Math Night Game

It was some time in October or November when my son had their Math Night in school. Parents were invited to join and I was so glad we did. That was our first time to play games that had to do with Math and it was really fun. I never thought there were such games. They really are great games because it will teach the kids more about Math and develop their skills in it.

After the event was over, the teacher sent us copies of the games that we played for us to play at home. And the picture below is one of them. I played it with my son a couple of weeks ago here at home and we really had fun. The game is called “Close to 100″ wherein you are given six one-digit number cards. You will then choose four cards among the six that will make a total of 100 or close to 100. If you didn’t make a 100, then the difference would be your score. The one who has the smallest score, wins. You should try it.

I Love Those Road Trips

The year is coming to an end and all I can say, we’ve been totally blessed this year. The three of us have bonded a lot with the trips we’ve made and I couldn’t be any happier. The husband and I have talked that hopefully, we get to go somewhere every year. It shouldn’t have to be grand for as long as we get to see a new place and enjoy it. Not to mention, the three of us are together.

We actually had plans this year that we weren’t able to do. Hopefully we get to make it next year and I do hope too that I’ll get to avail of great deals on vacation rental homes. Wish me luck!

Look Mom! That Car Has a Tree Growing Out of the Top!

So said my son the other day, and If there’s one thing that I consider to be part of Christmas here in the land of Uncle Sam that I didn’t see in my home country of the Philippines is seeing vehicles carrying live Christmas trees on top of their cars. That is probably why many cars here have a whispbar roof rack attached to the roof of their cars.

I’d only seen roof racks in the movies before, but now I see them live as well as those live Christmas trees. I really find it fascinating. But with or without them, Christmas would still be my favorite time of the year.

Christmas Musical

My son had their Christmas Musical in school last Tuesday, the 13th. They sang different Christmas carols and though I’ve heard some of them already, some of them were new to me, but they are all nice songs and all the kids did really well.

These are all the students who participated. Looking at the stage, my son is at the right side wearing a plaid blue button-down shirt. He’s at the back of that little kid wearing a yellow striped shirt. See him? (“,)

My son including selected kids said their piece about Christmas. I was going to post my son’s photo here while doing it, but my computer is having problems. I will try to share it next time.

I’ve Been a Good Girl, Honey

We are not done with our Christmas shopping yet, but we are definitely done shopping for the little one’s gifts. He made his list and we checked it twice and totally gave all that he asked for. It’s Christmas after all and it’s his happiness and joy that is the most important to us.

I am done shopping for myself too and for the husband, but I think the husband is not done with his yet – gifts for me to be exact. I guess it is because he doesn’t know which one to buy first. LOL. I didn’t make a list, but I did give him hints on what I want like a black berry tablet, iPod touch, kindle fire and a laptop. But I am not saying he should buy them all. He can choose one, but I’d be glad if he’ll add one more or two. LOL.

He’s a Good Boy

My 8-year-old son can either be super lazy or super industrious. The latter was what he was on the weekend. He cleaned his bedroom after playing. He wiped the shelves, arranged his things including books and vacuumed the carpet. But he missed one thing – picking up the glass beads scattered underneath his bed. Those beads were our neighbor Hannah’s beads that she brought with her when they played last week. He was already playing with the neighbors when I saw the beads so I cleaned them up myself. No biggie; he did the hard work.

First Trick or Treatin’ Ever

This year’s Halloween was mine and my son’s first celebration of it here in the land of Uncle Sam not to mention, the little one’s first trick or treatin’ ever. And that is because, we don’t celebrate it in my home country like the way they celebrate it here. Though there are some of my countrymen who really make it a point to celebrate, but it’s not that biggy compared here where almost every kid in a household really go trick or treatin’.

I made sure the little one will enjoy his first. I bought him his “Prince of Persia” costume and we went trick or treatin’ in a neighborhood near here. We were actually invited by our good friend, Carol to go trick or treatin’ with them and off we went. It was a chilly night, but it didn’t stop the little one from enjoying. He certainly had a blast!

My little prince!
