Look Mom! That Car Has a Tree Growing Out of the Top!

So said my son the other day, and If there’s one thing that I consider to be part of Christmas here in the land of Uncle Sam that I didn’t see in my home country of the Philippines is seeing vehicles carrying live Christmas trees on top of their cars. That is probably why many cars here have a whispbar roof rack attached to the roof of their cars.

I’d only seen roof racks in the movies before, but now I see them live as well as those live Christmas trees. I really find it fascinating. But with or without them, Christmas would still be my favorite time of the year.

Christmas Musical

My son had their Christmas Musical in school last Tuesday, the 13th. They sang different Christmas carols and though I’ve heard some of them already, some of them were new to me, but they are all nice songs and all the kids did really well.

These are all the students who participated. Looking at the stage, my son is at the right side wearing a plaid blue button-down shirt. He’s at the back of that little kid wearing a yellow striped shirt. See him? (“,)

My son including selected kids said their piece about Christmas. I was going to post my son’s photo here while doing it, but my computer is having problems. I will try to share it next time.

I’ve Been a Good Girl, Honey

We are not done with our Christmas shopping yet, but we are definitely done shopping for the little one’s gifts. He made his list and we checked it twice and totally gave all that he asked for. It’s Christmas after all and it’s his happiness and joy that is the most important to us.

I am done shopping for myself too and for the husband, but I think the husband is not done with his yet – gifts for me to be exact. I guess it is because he doesn’t know which one to buy first. LOL. I didn’t make a list, but I did give him hints on what I want like a black berry tablet, iPod touch, kindle fire and a laptop. But I am not saying he should buy them all. He can choose one, but I’d be glad if he’ll add one more or two. LOL.

‘Tis the Season…

…to be jolly! No truer words could be spoken to tell the story of my life at this moment. Finally, after many months of worrying and waiting, a dream has come true: my son and I are in America with my fiancé! And on our second day here we began celebration of the holiday season experiencing our very first Thanksgiving with our new family and friends.

Though we have so many things to take care of getting organized in our new surroundings, legal and otherwise as well as planning our wedding, it’s time to start thinking about our first Christmas in a new land. And the first thing on my Christmas list of to-dos is to find the most perfect of Christmas Cards to send to all the wonderful people who have went out of their way, going above and beyond, to welcome us in such a loving way.

Christmas is a blessed time, and I truly have been blessed. So let the celebration begin. And besides, nothing could make me any more jollier than having an excuse to go shopping, my one greatest weakness that my fiancé has yet to truly experience. (“,)

Are You Listening, Honey? I Have a List, Too

My 7-year-old son enumerated to me again yesterday morning the list of toys and gadgets that he wants for Christmas. Of course, his much-desired PSP tops the list then DS comes second, toy cars came next and the list just goes on and on. To make everything easy, I just nod and nod and answer yes and yes. He can be adamant at times, but the good thing with him, if I say I can’t afford it, he will stop. But he’s not losing hope. He still believes that someday, I will be able to grant his wishes. He’s right, though, that we never know what the future holds. I will probably win the lottery next month and presto! He’ll get all that he wants.

For me, I only have one wish for this Christmas, material wise, and that’s to have an iPhone, and of course I’d love to have some elegant and hip Iphone accessories, and I so hope my wish will be granted by Santa, or my honey fiancé. (“,)

‘Twill Soon Be the Time and Season!

A few more days to go and it’s already September. The first “ber” month is finally here and whenever September starts, it seems like time flies by so fast and before we know it, it’s already December and we are ready to celebrate the holiday season.

The holidays are definitely my favorite time of the year. The spirit they brings simply gives me a feeling of joy, happiness and peace. What I also love about it is the gift-giving, which everyone loves. Buying holiday cards and gifts and wrapping them are things that I really enjoy doing.

The little one is actually already telling me this early what gift he wants for Christmas. I just let him talk since I have this feeling that he will change his mind before the holidays. Knowing him, I bet he will. And besides, mommy knows best, as well as knowing what her budget can afford. Still, I know he will certainly be pleased with all the goodies he gets.

Lightning McQueen

My son Yogi’s an avid fan of the movie Cars. He actually watched the movie numerous times on DVD. So, I got him a remote-controlled Lightning McQueen car on Christmas. And as expected, he was overjoyed to see what’s inside the box that I wrapped myself.

I took this picture before I wrapped it because I know for certain that I won’t be able to take a photo of it once Yogi got hold of it already. Isn’t it nice?
